Setting up your mailbox in Outlook 2019 should take just a few minutes.
This guide shows you how to connect to your mailbox using POP or IMAP.
You can connect to your mailbox using either the POP3 or IMAP protocols. We generally advise that you use IMAP, especially if the mailbox is accessed by more than one person or if the mailbox is accessed on multiple devices.
If you connect using POP3 then emails are downloaded to the single device and deleted from the server. This may be preferable for privacy but this limits accessibility and leaves you with only a single copy of all mail unless you perform backups.
Step 1
Open Outlook 2019. If this is the first time you have opened Outlook you will be directed to the new account wizard.
If you already have an account set up, click File, then Add account and continue to step 2.
Step 2
When the Welcome to Outlook 2019 box opens, enter your email address and click Advanced options.
Step 3
Check the box the box for the option Let me set up my account manually and then click Connect.
Step 4
In the Choose account type window, select POP or IMAP (Recommended).
Step 5
You will now need to enter the incoming and outgoing mail server details for your provider.
Incoming mail:
Server: imap.hosts.co.uk for IMAP (Recommended), pop3.hosts.co.uk for POP
Port: 993 for IMAP, 995 for POP3.
Security: SSL/TLS
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Unchecked
Outgoing mail:
Server: smtp.names.co.uk
Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Unchecked
Step 6
Enter your mailbox password, then click Connect.
Complete
Your account should now be set up and ready to use, click OK to close the wizard. Outlook 2019 is now configured to send and receive email through your mailbox.
If you require any additional support, we are happy to help, but please note that we don't support client side email clients and setting up mailboxes on client machines is not covered in our support contracts, so support may come at an extra charge.
